Don’t lose a diamond while chasing glitter!

by | Dec 11, 2022

As for glitter, we all know, is an assortment of miniscule, reflective particles that come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colours. These particles reflect light from its surroundings at different angles, causing the surface to sparkle or shimmer.

Distractions create a temporary illusion of attraction. The point being – the glisten most often – (a false facade) eventually becomes gaunt and ghastly. Is what you’re in pursuit of worth what you are discarding along the way and will inevitably lose? There is no need to be in competition with anyone around you.

It is human, to allow glittery distractions to steer our focus away from what is important. Ergo, how one proceeds to treat others around them, mirrors the inner workings of their heart and unmasks motives. There is a saying, “Don’t be foolish enough to lose a diamond while chasing glitter.

To discard a diamond while chasing glitter – chimes the caliber of one’s character.

We want to understand, to ‘make sense’ of these individuals specific actions but most of the time their behaviour simply points to patterns of poor life choices. Eventually their plethora of petulance (excessive amount of childish behaviour) burns their own bridges.

Many of us have heard the saying (don’t burn your bridges behind you.) This is exactly what happens when you chase chaff. (Chaff is the dry, scaly protective casing of the seeds of cereal grains. In agriculture it is used as livestock fodder, or is a waste material ploughed into the soil.)

The one pursuing ‘fool’s gold’ is forced to light their own match, to have sight (in the dark.) Only a person who tries to obscure truth hides amongst the shadows. Dishonesty births darkness. As the match strikes – the bridges once built; burn to ashes, because lies are highly flammable.

In a world filled with ‘hurting people’ who hurt others. Be kind. I am not excusing poor behavior nor condoning bullies. But it takes one person to be the difference. Be the friend others can rely on. Stay in the light.

Stay kind, stay true.
