Crystal-Lee Young

This is me.

To most, letters on a page are just shapes and sounds. But string them together with meaning, and they can change everything. I’ve always believed in the quiet power of stories — the way they can shift a mindset, spark a movement, or stir something deep within us.

As a child, I often disappeared into books, finding safety and wonder in the spaces between the lines. I wanted to be a journalist like my uncle — to travel the world, tell the stories that matter, and give forgotten people their names back. I imagined myself writing from war zones, chasing truth, and making sure voices weren’t lost in the noise.

Because words, when used with care, can do so much: they can mend, awaken, challenge, and heal. They help us make sense of the chaos, and sometimes, they’re the only thing that does.

Writing isn’t just something I do.

It’s who I am.

About Crystal-Lee Young

Family.

I wasn’t the loudest in the room—but my imagination made plenty of noise.

While other kids chatted, I filled my quiet with daydreams. I could’ve flooded rivers with stories or built the Eiffel Tower from poems. But instead, I packed 20kg into a bag and left home with more hope than a plan. Just shy of 18, fresh out of Grade 12, I boarded a plane to France—alone—and landed in the chaos and charm of Paris.

That was the start of everything.
I dove into a kaleidoscope of cultures, learned to navigate the city (and its wolves), and sharpened my instincts fast. Back-packing solo across Europe was a beautiful blur—equal parts magical and messy. I wandered endlessly by train, chasing stories across coastlines and borders, sometimes lost but never stuck.

Yes, it was lonely at times. But I found bravery in the conversations of strangers, and meaning in the messy, raw, real stories they shared.
It struck me: every single one of us is walking around with a memoir waiting to be told.

And when we tell it truthfully—it shapes everything that comes next

Author.

I didn’t set out to write a book—I set out to tell the truth. And somewhere along the way, that truth took shape on a page.

After years of quiet dedication, scribbled journals, and soul-deep writing, my first book was published in 2020—When I Was Your Age—a love letter to my daughters, and the start of something much bigger. It’s more than a book; it’s a literal legacy I leave for them.

I’ve always believed that words can heal. They can patch up bruised hearts, soothe invisible scars, and calm a mind filled with chaos.

While the world chooses war, I choose empathy.

I write for those silently fighting their own battles. Because every person carries a story—and yes, some are heavy—but all are worth telling. The way you speak, the way you express yourself, it says everything about what’s going on beneath the surface.

My travel blurbs are full of wide-eyed wonder—snapshots of cities, coastlines, and characters I’ve crossed paths with.

My lifestyle blogs? Those come from the trenches of real life: the messy bits, the vulnerable moments, the growth.

With every piece I write, I invite you to walk beside me. To reflect, laugh, maybe even cry—and, hopefully, to feel a little less alone.

My mission is simple: to inspire you to live boldly, love honestly, and write your own story without apology.
